Where is hi five now

The group struck tragedy in when lead singer Tony Thompson was found dead as a result of inhaling freon from an air conditioning unit. Earlier this year, member Russell Neal was charged with murder in the stabbing death of his wife in Houston. Despite the many setbacks faced by the quintet, they have reunited once again with some adjustments to provide their fans with new music. We caught up with guys to get the scoop on their return, fears and how they feel about the boy bands who are out now.

After the group fulfilled their contract with Jive Records and was about to start recording their third album, a dispute over royalties would ultimately see Russell Neal exit the group for the last time. While recording their third album Russell Neal would be replaced with Shannon Gill. Who would go on to sign with the other members to Giant records which would ultimately lead to the groups demise. The label focused on a solo album from founding member Tony Thompson and shelved the groups hope at a 4th album.

So would be the last official time that Hi-Five was the group as we knew it in sound and members. He died on June 1, survived by his son Tevin Thompson who was 15 years old at the time.

Tony was 31 years old at the time of his death. Treston Irby, in New Haven, CT on the night of August 20, was shot five times while doing a club appearance to promote himself as a solo artist. Miraculously he is alive and well today.
